In the news is the latest thing when it comes to divorce, it’s called the Divorce Hotel.
You can read about it here: http://nypost.com/2015/02/10/i-checked-into-the-divorce-hotel-to-check-out-of-my-marriage/
Essentially you get a hotel stay and you try to resolve your case over a weekend. That sounds great and probably works great in a lot of breakups. However, in those situations, you can usually resolve the issues without the expensive hotel stay by sitting down with your attorney and talking about what you want.
What this article also fails to tell you is that you really do not get divorced over a weekend. You still have to file for divorce and wait the required 60 days before it can be finalized. During that time, unless the agreement was reached as part of a mediated settlement agreement, there is nothing binding on that agreement.
So before you spend $5,000 on this grand idea of a quick, easy and painless divorce, consult with an attorney in your area to discuss your options.
