Instead of talking about the legal aspects of a divorce I wanted to focus on you. I’ve recently had to start looking for things outside of my normal comfort zone. I needed to find a doctor but I didn’t know if I needed to see my general practice doctor first or go to a specialist. Then came the question of how to find a specialist after the doctor’s office told me to go directly to a specialist. The problem is I didn’t want to go to a specialist near my doctor as that is a bit of a drive for me and would rather find someone near my office or house. So trying to find a specialist became a chore and was overwhelming for me.
So I took that and put it into perspective for finding an attorney. Specifically a divorce attorney. I can only imagine the different levels of emotion you could be feeling right now. Either you are the one thinking about filing for divorce or you have just been served with a divorce petition. In either case, these emotions can debilitate you and make it hard for you to concentrate on finding an attorney. Or these emotions cause you to pick a name out of a book or off the internet and just hire that attorney. In either case I caution you to get to know your attorney before you hire him/her.
